"In 2010 we brought our youngest son, Henry, out to spend the winter in Big Sky. He attended Ophir School and skied with the Big Sky team. Henry was the first to bring the needs of the community to our attention. He became a passionate volunteer in all the activities that helped pay for the 8th graders to go to Washington, D.C. Henry told us about the backpack program that his friends were receiving, and we started to pay attention and looked for ways to give back to Big Sky. When our friends came to visit, we asked that they donate funds to the 8th grade DC trip, rather than bring us gifts. When LIFT was created, we did our part to contribute.
Soon after, Loren Bough and Casey Schwartz asked me to join the YCCF board. It has been one of my great joys to be a part of it! My husband, Bob, is the real fundraiser. While at another organization's board meeting, we discussed the best ways to help fund the Big Sky Medical Center with Loren. Bob was soon making calls to raise that money! Then came the Community Center and now Elevate Big Sky. When Emily Burke brought the concept of a thrift store to the board, it was right up my alley! I volunteer when I can, we contribute regularly, and now we ask houseguests to bring items to donate when they visit. I tease Bob that Yellowstone Club was his second-best decision ever. One of the decision factors was that we would be able to watch Big Sky grow. Our dearest friends are in this community - ones that came with us from Philadelphia, those we met early on, those we've met recently, those we've met outside the gates. Our happiest days are in Montana!"
